Frequently Asked Questions: Fundamental Eyeliner
Our comprehensive eyeliner course covers all essential aspects of permanent eyeliner application, including classic lash line enhancement, wing techniques, shadow/smudgy effects, and colour theory specific to the eye area. You’ll master proper mapping for different eye shapes, specialised machine techniques, client consultation protocols, and strict safety procedures for this delicate area. By the end of the course, you’ll have the skills and confidence to offer various eyeliner styles safely and professionally.
The eye area is sensitive, so proper pain management is essential. We teach advanced numbing protocols specifically for the eyeliner region. Most clients rate the procedure between 4-7 on a 10-point discomfort scale, though this varies by individual pain tolerance and the specific technique used. Classic lash line work typically causes less discomfort than winged styles that extend to less innervated areas.
Yes, touch-ups are an essential part of the lip enhancement process. A perfecting touch-up is recommended 6-8 weeks after the initial procedure to ensure colour retention and make any necessary adjustments. After that, annual or bi-annual colour refreshers help maintain vibrant results. The course covers complete touch-up protocols and how to price these follow-up services.
Safety is paramount when working near the eyes. Our training includes:
- Specialised eye protection techniques
- Proper client positioning to prevent injury
- Managing blinking and eye movement
- Emergency protocols for unexpected situations
- Preventing pigment migration into the eye
- Strict sanitation specific to the eye area
- Recognising and avoiding contraindications
All students must demonstrate mastery of these safety protocols before working on live models.
When properly executed, permanent eyeliner provides a natural enhancement that mimics the look of perfectly applied makeup. Depending on the chosen style, results can range from very subtle lash line enhancement that simply creates the appearance of fuller lashes to more defined liner that eliminates the need for daily makeup application. We focus on creating results that enhance the client’s natural features rather than looking obviously “tattooed.”
