Frequently Asked Questions
Have a Question?
Take a look at some of the questions we are asked the most below. If you have any questions that we havent already covered please feel free to contact us
Whats the difference between an accredited training course and a VTCT training course?
A VTCT training course is a nationally recognised Ofqual regulated qualification. This means that the framework and structure of the training is more stringently quality checked and assured. This is a true ‘qualification’.
An accredited course is a course written by a private training provider and then accredited by an accrediting body who are responsible for checking the quality and content of the course. As this kind of training is much less regulated, the quality of the training may vary between providers.
We provide both our own privately accredited training and also VTCT Level 4 training. All of our training is taught to VTCT Level 4 standards and if you choose to study the accredited single units initially then you can always go on to also complete your VTCT qualifying conversion at a later date when you are ready.
What do I need to find out before committing to permanent make up training?
Your first port of call is to find out your local authority requirements. Every council varies in what training/environment they require in order to issue a skin piercing license which every technician has to have to perform permanent make up.
Currently there are only a few areas of the UK that require a government regulated qualification (VTCT Level 4) with most other authorities being happy to issue a licence as long as you have completed an accredited training course.
It is the students responsibility to ensure that they have contacted their local authority and spoken with the environmental health team to check their own licence requirements.
Further requirements that almost all councils ask for to satisfy a skin piercing license include a room to work from that is dedicated to permanent make up (not a kitchen for example if you are planning to work from home) a sink in the room with hot and cold running water and wipeable surfaces and floors.
To clarify your own individual circumstances please contact your local council and ask to speak with the environmental health team regarding a skin piercing licence.
Do we offer finance/split payments?
We offer split payment plans through Go cardless meaning that you can pay an initial deposit and then split your remaining payments. The best part is its 0% interest! The only stipulation for our split payments is that you have to have cleared all training fees before sitting your final assessment.
Which course do you advise starting with?
Providing you do not live in an area that requires a Level 4 (VTCT) we would suggest that you begin your learning with our fundamental brow course and then onto lips followed by liner when you feel confident. Our brow course gives a great under pinning knowledge to support you moving through the rest of the areas!
If you do require a level 4 qualification straight away then we would suggest that you start straight away with the full VTCT Level 4 in micropigmentation.
Is there support when my training ends?
Yes!
We offer all of our students life time support and all course also come with a free shadow day. You will have access to a Facebook support group as well as a WhatsApp chat throughout training and we are always on hand to help you out!
How do I find case study models?
We advise starting to advertise for models for your case studies prior to attending your in person training. Most of our students use social media to advertise, family and friends are also often willing to offer themselves up!ย
